10th Anniversary Celebration

Pokémon GO marks its tenth year with free Timed Research for every Trainer worldwide, running from 12 August to 6 September. It ends in a Mewtwo encounter with perfect stats and a Special Background, so it is worth finishing before the research expires.

Event bonuses

• Free Timed Research ending in a Mewtwo encounter with maxed-out stats and a Special Background
• Mewtwo caught from the research has the third Mega Level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y
• Trainers who caught Mewtwo at the in-person Times Square event on 9 July get a Mewtwo with different stats and different rewards
• A Mewtwo with a Times Square background will return at a later date
