Pokémon Go has been a terrific success, with countless lapsed fans falling back in love with the game after the scarily successful Halloween event. Niantic have devised a great way to get us well and truly hooked again - they have announced that daily bonuses are being introduced to the game and this is expected to happen in the next patch.
Niantic have provided a detailed look at the new features in a recent blog post in which they reveal "Trainers will soon be able to receive a bonus for certain daily activities, including catching a Pokémon or visiting a Pokéstop once a day. You'll earn a larger bonus if you do this seven days in a row!". David Their from Forbes recently took a look at what this will mean:
- Essentially, you get an XP bonus every day for visiting a single Pokéstop and catching a single Pokémon, as well as bonus items from said Pokestop and bonus stardust from said Pokemon.
- You can get the bonus at any time during the day, and the day rolls over at 12 AM local time, just like normal.
- You get a streak bonus for each activity, and you get a bigger bonuses if you do it every day for seven days. The bonuses could stand to be bigger — 500 XP and 600 stardust for the dailies, 2,000 XP and 2,400 stardust for the weeklies — but it's all about lodging the activity into your head.
While some sites such as The Next Web have excitedly exclaimed that "Pokémon Go update will keep players coming back with fresh daily bonuses" while others simply wondering why an update like this has taken so long. Either way, we're delighted with this upcoming update and imagined it will keep us hooked until the inevitable Christmas (or maybe even Thanksgiving) event takes place.
